GUTTER CLEANING CHRISTCHURCH
Vacuum gutter and spouting cleaning, done without the mess
Blocked gutters are one of the most common causes of preventable water damage in Christchurch homes, and they rarely announce themselves until something has already gone wrong. Leaves, pine needles, moss and silt build up over the year until water can no longer get away. It backs up under the roofline, spills over the fascia boards, or pools against the foundations.
Mobi-Vac has been clearing guttering across Canterbury since 1985, and the method has not changed much because it still works. A truck-mounted vacuum lifts everything out of the gutter and straight into a sealed collection unit. Nothing is flushed down your downpipes, nothing is blown across your garden, and nothing is left on the path for you to sweep up. The waste is composted afterwards rather than sent to landfill.
Gutter cleaning or spouting cleaning?
They are the same job. Some Canterbury customers call it spouting, some call it guttering, and plenty just call it the gutters. Whichever you searched for, this is the service you want: clearing the channels that run along your roofline, plus the downpipes that carry the water away.
Why vacuum extraction beats hand-clearing
Hand-clearing and hosing move the problem around. Neither removes it. Scooping by hand drops debris onto whatever is below, and hosing pushes silt straight down the downpipe, where it settles and creates the next blockage. Vacuum extraction takes the material off the property entirely, which is why we can promise no mess on your paths, gardens or driveway and mean it.

Call Johno or fill in the form and we will come back to you. For a standard residential property we can usually quote over the phone, because the price comes down to the size of the roofline, how easy the access is, and whether it is single or two-storey. FAQS
Gutter cleaning questions
Cannot find your answer? Call Johno on 021 622 761 and he will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.
How much does gutter cleaning cost in Christchurch?
Gutter and spouting cleaning starts from $180 + gst. The final price depends on the size of the roofline and how long it has been since the last clean. For most standard homes we can quote over the phone, and we will always confirm the price with you before we begin.
How often should Christchurch gutters be cleaned?
Once a year suits most homes. If you have pine, gum or deciduous trees anywhere near the roofline, twice a year is the safer bet, because that is what causes the overflows and water getting in under the roofline. Properties with a lot of shade also collect moss in the gutter itself, which holds water and accelerates rust in older steel spouting. If you cannot remember the last clean, it is probably due.
What is vacuum gutter cleaning and why is it better?
Mobi-Vac runs a truck-mounted vacuum that lifts everything out of the gutter and into a sealed unit. Hand-clearing and hosing push debris down your downpipes or onto your paths and gardens. Vacuum extraction takes it away entirely, and the waste gets composted afterwards.
Do you service two-storey homes?
Yes, and it is routine for us. Mobi-Vac carries extra-long ladders so upper gutters and spouting can be reached and cleared safely. Two-storey properties are priced a little higher because of the extra time and setup involved, and we confirm that before we start.
Is gutter and spouting the same thing?
Yes. Some customers call it spouting and some call it guttering. It is the same job either way.
Do I need to be home?
Not unless you would like to be. As long as we can get access, we will do the job and send through before and after photos once we are finished.
Do you clear the downpipes as well?
Yes, that is part of every job. We check each downpipe for flow and clear any blockages we find, because a clean gutter feeding a blocked downpipe still overflows.
What happens to the debris?
It leaves with us in the sealed collection unit and gets composted instead of going to landfill. Nothing is tipped into your green bin or left on site.
