OUR STORY
40 years of doing it right
Mobi-Vac started over 40 years ago, in 1985, when the original owners spotted a simple problem: Canterbury homes needed a better way to keep their gutters and exteriors clean. Since then it has grown into a genuine, 100% family owned and operated Christchurch business, built on local pride, reliable service and deep community roots.
Today Mobi-Vac is led by owner-operators Johno and Ilona Douglas. Johno’s connection to the business runs deep. He was an integral part of the hands-on team well before taking the reins, and when the opportunity came up to buy the company, he and Ilona took the chance to preserve its history while steering it into the future.
We look after gutters, roofs, driveways and exteriors for homeowners and businesses right across Canterbury, from vacuum gutter clearing and roof moss treatment through to full exterior house washing and hard surface cleaning.

Our truck-mounted vacuum system takes debris straight into a sealed unit, so nothing ends up on your paths or gardens. It is the same careful approach we would want at our own home, and it is why Canterbury families keep calling us back.

THE OWNERS
Johno and Ilona Douglas
Mobi-Vac is owner-operated, which on a job like this matters more than it sounds. Johno worked on the tools here long before he owned the place, so when he quotes a roofline he is quoting something he has personally cleared hundreds of times. Ilona is the financial controller, so if you have a question about your invoice you are talking to the person who actually keeps the books.
It also means there is no layer between you and the person accountable for the work. If something is not right, you are talking to the owner, not to a franchisee or a dispatcher.
